Sunshine before the snow

I really don’t like winter in Wyoming. It’s cold, snowy, windy, and goes on for what seems like forever. Right now, I’m actually in the middle of a snow day due to what my husband is calling an “epic snow” storm (Think Narnia before Aslan came back when it was always winter but never Christmas, except we have Christmas).

Two days ago, however, it was a completely different scene. The temperature warmed up to above freezing, the sun came out, and the wind settled down. So, I decided to enjoy it and go for a hike.

I chose the Paul Stock Nature Trail in Cody. It’s not very long (I’m still two months out from surgery) and has some beautiful scenery. I was also hoping to see a Bald Eagle. My husband sees them all the time and saw one there last week. I’ve seen one twice and didn’t have a camera either time.

So I packed up all my gear – three cameras, including my phone – and went. The trail goes along the edge of a bluff over the Shoshone River and allowed me to see so much pretty scenery and a little bit of wildlife. I did not see a Bald Eagle, though.

Anyway, my foot felt good, and I was able to try out my new lenses and teleconverter. I also enjoyed some wonderful sunshine before winter reared its icy, ugly head again. Maybe next time, I’ll see a Bald Eagle. This time, though, it was just geese, ducks and a beautiful river.
