Yellowstone in Winter

It’s hard moving to a small town from a big city. I miss the different dining options, and the grocery store offerings as well as some other things. One thing I do enjoy about my small town life though is the scenery. Especially around Cody, Wyoming.

A few weekends ago my husband I decided to drive to Yellowstone (the east entrance is about an hour away from where we live). It was getting colder, and that entrance was due to close soon for the winter. I’ve been there twice since we moved this summer, and I was excited to see it with some snow.

It was beautiful. The only other time I’ve seen that much snow was in Alaska. I hadn’t seen anything like that when I was living in the desert. It snowed one time (it was the first time it had snowed there in 10 years), but it was gone after a day. No one knew how to drive in it either. Here it’s just a part of life. It does stop some activities and it closes down parts of the park, but life goes on. And it’s beautiful šŸ™‚

I also realized it’s much easier living somewhere with fewer dining options when I can see stuff like this on the weekends šŸ™‚

Snow
More snow
And even more snow
Dragon’s Mouth Spring
Mud Volcano
Churning Caldron
The only wildlife we saw
