Reno by way of California

My husband and I recently took a road trip to Reno, Nevada, from our home in Las Vegas.

Despite being home to one of the vacation capitals of the world (if you like gambling), the state is very rural. There are several “big” cities and the rest are tiny little ones spread out in the desert through the state. You’ll go for hours just seeing mountains and the desert. It’s oddly peaceful, but we decided to head into California once we left Tonapah, Nevada, because there was very little between it and Reno.

We also wanted to find the Buckeye Hot Springs in California and see what kind of campsites were there. On our way there we also stopped by Mono Lake, which is the weirdest and coolest place I’ve been to.

We found a campsite near a stream with a wonderful view of the moon and stars (It’s hard to get that in Vegas because of all the lights). The hot springs were hot, our campsite was beautiful, and Reno was … Reno🙂.
